The Accounts and Audit (Wales) Regulations 2014 set out the requirements for preparing the annual accounts.
Due to the restrictions imposed by Government to control the spread of the coronavirus Town Council is not currently holding meetings.
Town Council does not expect to be able to prepare the accounts for 2019/20 in accordance with the normal timescale which require the approval of the annual return by 30th June and the publication of audited accounts by 30th September.
Given the unprecedented circumstances Wales Audit Office has advised:
“We would not expect councils to meet to approve the accounts until after the Covid-19 situation has passed and councils are meeting again. Therefore, councils should not be concerned if for 2019/20 they cannot prepare the accounts on time and publish audited accounts by 30th September. Auditors will take a pragmatic approach when completing their audits.”
When the Town Council is able to meet and approve the accounts appropriate arrangements will be made for the exercise of electors’ rights.
At the present time it is not possible to indicate when the Town Council will meet.
Information will be posted on the website as soon as a date can be set.
